Merry Christmas Y'all

Christmastime. You think of eggnog, decorating the tree, and gifts. But you also have to dress for the occasion. And no, I do NOT mean those bulky Christmas sweaters with little doggies on them, sorry. There is a classy way to dress up for the holidays.
Going to a party? Sparkles are the key to standig out. Just don't over do it. A sparkly tank underneath a tailored blazer. A chunky pearl necklace and a glittery charm bracelet make a good statement. Pair with a ruffled skirt and tuck the tank in-so cute! If it's a little chilly for short skirts, colored or patterened tights are the key. To polish off a great dressy look wear chunky heels (jazz 'em up buy buying pairs with a bow on the heel, decorative zippers, peep toe, etc.) or knee-high boots (booties work too).
In winter months to keep warm people buy sweaters. But the problem is finding one that looks flattering and stylish. The thinner the sweater the more form fitting it will be. When sweaters are thicker they tend to get bulkier and less flattrering. Another form of sweater is like a longer, looser cardigan. You can put them on top of a tank, tunic, dress, etc., and put a thick belt around the smallest part of your waist.
Also, the holiodays call for different make-up. It's more festive, sparkly, and colorful. Try this fun holiday look: Start off by lining your eyes with purple eyeliner (the kind I had in mind was from the brand Tarte) and create the cat-eye look. Next use a shimmery, metallicy silver eye shadow all over the eye lid. The shadow should be sparkly. After that, use a shimmery navy shadow for the contour shade. Smudge the navy in the outer corner of your eye and blend into the crease. You can line your bottom lashline with the silver shadow and top with mul;tiple coats of black mascara. You don't have to use those same colors though. Dark shimmery greens work too fro eyeshadow and navy or black liner works too. Have fun with the colors!
Hope everyone has a merry, fashionable Christmas!

The Wonderful World of Jeans

The great thing about jeans is that they never go out of style and that there are so many different types. The first thing about shopping for jeans is that you never go shopping for them alone. If a pair of jeans doesn't make your butt look good, they aren't worth the money, so always go with a friend so they can see what's going on back there. Some of my favorite stores to find jeans are JC Penney's, American Eagle, and Levi's. All of these stores have great selections and include sizes such as short, medium, and long. I appreciate this because of my height I always confront the problem of jeans that are too short. American eagle has some of the most comfortable jeans I have tried on. So soft!
There are so many styles of jeans: skinny, bootcut, straight, flare, boyfriend, and jeggings. Okay for my favorite, skinnies! They aren't for every body type, but most girls can pull them off. A common mistake with skinny jeans is that they bunch at the ankle. That isn't the most flattering flattering look, it won't make your legs look any longer. The fit needs to flow straight down to your ankle, no bunching. Flats look adorable with this. Also, tuck boots into the hem for an instant put together look. Straight leg jeans can be used as an alternative if you don't feel comfortable in the tight skinnies. They are loser and create a more streamlined look.
Next up: bootcut. These are the most flattering jeans for ANY body type. They are also some of the most comfortable; not too tight, not too lose. They visibly make thighs slimmer and make your legs look longer. Make sure the fit is slim through the thighs to create a leaner silhouette.
Flare jeans are sleek and retro, straight from the '70s! But you have to wear a more fitted blouse to balance out the wide pants legs.  Heels or pumps definitely look best with these, but that obviously isn't practical for school, so these would most likely be a weekend outfit. Fringed booties are a cute way to give a retro spin to them. Not that heels always have to be paired with flares, it is merely a flattering suggestion.
Boyfriend jeans are everywhere now! They are loose fitting and comfortable, but the right shirt has to be paired with them so the ensemble doesn't look sloppy. Boyfriends are practically the sweats of the jean family. Another way to de-slop these jeans are to role the hem up tight to just barely above the ankle. Flats make them really chic. Heels work too, but they are less conventional. I love high heeled boots, but I don't want to wear them to school or multiple times a week because it would kill my feet! These jeans also flatter most body shapes. Boyfriend jeans are commonly distressed (that means they have rips in them), but this conflicts with me because at school the dress code doesn't allow tears above the knee. But they will add a playful spin to your weekend wardrobe!
Last but not least, jeggings. These are a new concoction that consists of jeans and leggings combined. They aren't as thin as leggings, but are more stretchy than jeans. I personally don't own any yet, but they look super comfy! If they are the super thin jeggings, wear a tunic paired with them.  Tunics cover your booty but shouldn't be as long as a dress. If they are pretty thick jeggings it's safe to wear a regular shirt with them. They should hit right at the ankle, not super long. Flats look cutest, or since the material is so form fitting (they need to be tight, not baggy. But if you go too tight they won't flatter you!) they would also look great tucked into boots.
Now it's time to go shopping for some jeans! Keep in mind: jeans are no longer supposed to be boring pants, the make their own statement in your outfit! Buy a pair that has shape, flatters your figure, and in a nice color. Darker colors tend to look more put together and slimming. White jeans are kind of iffy for me, but don't be afraid to go for it. Skinnies or jeggings may look scary, but they will make your legs look super long if worn right. So go ramp up your closet with some awesome jeans!
